In the end, The Vindicator staff consisted of more than 140 employees, which included editorial – reporters, editors, photographers, copy editors/designers, artists and editorial writers; accounting; creative services; and the executive team. Today’s edition is the last Vindicator brought to you by all of the people in the photo.
It’s disheartening to be witness to the closing of such a storied newspaper.
Youngstown was the first city I traveled to when I came to Ohio with the AP. It stayed a part of my life even after my retirement and the people who worked there are special in telling the story of journalism in the state.
The Tribune-Chronicle in Warren bought the newspaper’s masthead and web address. It also bought the paper’s subscription list and is adding coverage to include those readers.
I know times change but I’m not convinced this change is good. Time will tell. But you won’t read about it in The Vindy.
