There is little left of the Knights Inn on Heatherdowne at State Street after a demolition crew knocked down the buildings and began carrying off the demolished motel that once stood as a greeting at the city’s gateway to I-270. The building fell into disrepair with its latest owners and became haven for crime from drugs and alcohol to violence.

The city bought the property and decided to demolish the structures when it fell into receivership in 2014.
